Homeless dwelling at Maintenance yard.  Every night.  

Couple days later–This morning there were no campers at the Abbot Kinney Maintenance Yard.  Yesterday Lt Paola Kreeft emailed me saying LAPD officers would be talking to the guys last night. Maybe they did and maybe the campers moved on after being there for weeks………..let’s see what holds.

As much as I’d love to see more beauty in Venice—if we are really short of parking in Venice—if that is REALLY the motivation for the OPDs for example–we can save all the hassle that permits bring and put diagonal spaces on Grand and Rialto and other wide streets and get twice the spaces! Simple. Cheap. Effective. 

We should explore ALL options before OPDs which will create a huge hassle for residents and our many visitors, reduce coastal access, and head Venice towards the “gated community” that many people seem to want it to become. Venice was created by Abbot Kinney as “the people’s beach,” so it has been–and gained huge popularity (16 million visitors a year) because of it–and so it should always remain.

This video clip shows an uninhabited island in the middle of the Pacific, 2000 miles away from any major coastline.

Nobody lives there, birds only, although…What the very short film shows is hard to believe and could be a precursor of what’s to come in the future!  Everyone should see this movie and think before tossing any non-degradable items into the ocean.
