The large kitty-cat looking creatures one sees at night roaming the area on fences are actually raccoons. How many of them in area is unknown. This one apparently lives in the storm drain at Jefferson Marina apartments. According to Wikipedia they have a roaming area in the city of about seven acres, are nocturnal, eat just about anything, gestate for 65 days and have two to five “kits” in the spring. Kits stay with their mother until the fall.
