Odysseus B of Westchester …Liquor store concentration is a challenging question, especially for a tourist-based, beach community like Venice that is also just a residential neighborhood. I think BEVMO is a caliber beyond a typical liquor store, but there is a limit that Venice is approaching, IMO. Biggest thing you could do in this case is to demand that bevmo convert the existing infrastructure into what it needs instead of razing and rebuilding. Environmentally better choice.
The LMU situation: they need to build more parking on the campus and roll parking fees into the tuition for every student. They can’t do that unless they can guarantee parking for everyone charged for parking, hence the need for a parking facility. I actually briefly went to one college where they rolled the cost for football tickets into everyone’s tuition. Guess that says a lot about their priorities.
Heather K of Thatcher …Hey, we have pot shops at every other corner, why not liquor at every corner! Ya gotta be on something to survive all the friggin traffic and insanity around here!
But seriously, Bevmo or liquor store? We’ve got marina Liquor. Our ma n pop liquor store who has people there for thirty plus years!
Why not something mild like an office building? Or a yarn shop? Or useful like a rehab center for all the alcoholics and pot smokers? It’d be so convenient! Or how a toll road so you don’t have to wait at the intersection. A business where the traffic is caused by only employees and not hundreds of customers! Denise Fast! Buy it and put your offices there! Ugh. Love living her, not so crazy about those who want to capitalize on it for a buck and do NOT live here.
Please note all the above statements are not meant to offend but just highlight the absurdity and comedy as to the decision making process of what can be included in our neighborhood. If you can’t have fun with the idea, we’d be left only with frustration which would perhaps lead us to, goodness forbid, move to Santa Clarita!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!
Steve F of Howard …Re Arnold and Gene’s comments concerning disposing of dog crap:
A few of our neighbors are so eager to get rid of their dog’s mess that they put it in the first bin they see, even walking into neighbor’s yards to do so. Not respectful or acceptable. Dog poop is trash and belongs in black bins, not blue or green bins. Those who care remove the crap they find in blue and green bins to put it where it belongs. Walking onto the property of others who put their bins away after collection day is rude and intrusive.
What our dog drops is our own mess. There is no justification for trespassing to dump your crap on your neighbor

I lost my parrot, Freddy, around Abbot Kinney and Washington. He is green with a yellow head (double yellow headed Amazon). He is mostly tame and talks quite a bit. Call Jasmine at 310-993-0929.

If you missed the FIRST public meeting about the future of MdR on April 25, please be sure to attend the LAST one, this Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm — see below for the county’s notice and flyer (free refreshments at the MdR Hotel afterward). Maybe this time they will be more forthcoming about what is left on the table for us to envision.
MdR Boating, recreation and public access are hanging in the balance, so please set aside any recreational plans you may have for Saturday, and try protect these things for your kids.
