The biggest concern for the Oxford Basin Wednesday by the locals was “where’s the bathrooms?” That and potential increased noise, etc. to the homeowners adjacent to the existing bike path.
The county is proposing to build a decomposed granite path around the basin to attract joggers and walkers. To prevent people from using the wall behind the Oxford Ave homes as a toilet, residents requested a bathroom on site.
FYI, the 18″ concrete wall they intend to build along Washington and the proposed Oceana development, is so they can increase flood storage capacity significantly. Think New Orleans. I wouldn’t want to be a resident or homeowner of the adjacent low lying areas when that overdue 100 storm/flood hits and there’s a pump or structural failure, especially with the violent and unpredictable weather patterns associated with global warming that are already occurring throughout the globe.
And they want to do this with a MND.
The deadline for comments on the MND is June 18.
We need to comment on the Oxford Basin issue ASAP to the CCC.
If we don’t get the support needed through the process, we’ll need to hire an attorney and litigate our concerns.
