Peters Walks OFW with Bonin, Shares Input

LAPD Captain Jon Peters discussed at the neighborhood watch meet Thursday his walk on Ocean Front Walk (OFW) with Councilman Mike Bonin and other groups gathered to provide input for making OFW safe.

Captain Peters said many things had been discussed, such as remotely controlled bollards, quick curbs, and obstacles of some kind to prevent cars going to parking lots at Washington, Venice, and Rose from entering OFW to the left or right.  Captain Peters also mentioned that it really wasn’t necessary, in most cases, to enter the short streets off Speedway that lead to OFW.

Two on OFW Senior Lead Officer Peggy Thusing’s long-time wish list were video surveillance cameras on west side of the OFW to cover just the boardwalk and a public address system.  When asked why not cameras on the east side, Thusing said most vendors had cameras.

Captain Peters explained that a public address system could be used if there was a terrorist attack or threat. Thusing mentioned a tsunami.
