Councilman Mike Bonin poses with the tree people of Mar Vista Farmers’ Market. The group spearheaded by Andrew Basmajian, president of Mar Vista Farmers’ Market and next to Bonin on right, planted trees supplied by the Department of Public Works. Councilman Bonin spoke of how important the community is and how the planting of these trees expresses such a strong community spirit, one that will grown with the trees. Diana Rodgers, manager of the market standing with sunglasses on holding the tree, was asked if this was the largest Farmers’ Market and she said it was smaller than Santa Monica but would not comment regarding the other neighboring markets. She did say she had 80 concessions and another lady nearby said there were 80 more waiting.
