More of What Firestone Plans

Adam Firestone was asked what his retail shop would look like and asked if he had photos.

Retail store in two-story building:
The beers sit in a fridge. Beer, like milk, is perishable – but most people don’t realize that. We are really neurotic about our products, so we don’t put them out on display. None are ever sitting on a shelf at ambient temps. Our beers come in 6 paks (the least expensive at $8.99 – $14.99), some are in 4 paks (more expensive at $9.99-16.99) and singles (most expensive at $14.99 to “a lot”). The singles come in individual boxes (see photo) and these are the ones most often collected. It’s strange because I grew up in the wine business at a time when beer was cheap and wine was expensive. Now many of our beers are more expensive than any wine we made.

a Private collection of FW

Some blogger sent us photo of beer and the boxes. This guy has collected most every Anniversary we’ve made (we do this once a year). (That collection is pretty impressive since you have to come to the brewery on release date to get it and it is limited to 2 bottles per person.) They are often just collected. Here’s an example of the 2008 being sold at $78.

All the beers are our own. On occasion we have had guest celebrity brewers come to the brewery to brew and we will feature their brew until the batch runs out. Just like there are the Wolfgang Pucks and Mario Batali celebrity chefs, there are celebrity brewers and breweries.
