“This is a time sensitive matter,” said Paul Jackson who said he was from the Litigation Department. “You must return this call the very second you receive this message. Do not disregard this call. Do return this call as soon as possible before legal action against you is taken in regards to a deficiency in income taxes. Call me at 415-251-7622.”
This is the message left on Mar Vista resident Martha Santana’s answering machine this month.
Martha Santana is an active neighborhood watch member so she immediately checked out the telephone number. When she found out it was a scam, she wanted the news to spread.
What she did was Google the call-back number and found out it was a scam. She further wrote:
