I have always supported the new waste system.
Everything we do to enhance recycling, and reduce gas emissions is a better cleaner LA.
The problems complained about are details that can be worked out. Anytime you have a system change there are problems, usually worked out within the first 3-6 months. Have patience.

Thank you to the 2 policemen who showed up this weekend at the corner of Pacific and Washington. Traffic moved nicely and the intersection was kept clear.

Hello Mr. Bonin,
I live on the Marina Peninsula. In the past I have spoken with your representative regarding this critical situation & have not heard back from you or your office.
The traffic is intolerable / unsafe at Pacific Ave & Washington Blvd, MDR. Especially on weekends. It is conceivable / inevitable that there will be serious injuries in this location. Several residents have had near accidents. We prefer not to wait for an accident / bodily injury to occur to have the intersection & flow of traffic assessed and remedy applied.
Cars cannot proceed forward due to the congestion, parking lots full …both at Venice & Washington. This year traffic has been backed up to the east of Costco.
Pedestrians crossing in “NO Crossing” areas & …against red pedestrian ..no walking..flashing lights.
Cyclist & skateboards not obeying traffic laws…& going in the opposite direction to the flow of traffic.
It has become commonplace that no vehicle is able to proceed thru a green light, make a right or left turn due to pedestrians walking at will illegally.
Emergency vehicles & residents with emergent needs cannot get to the destination in appropriate time.
I await your reply and discussing the situation.

Our Triangle has a dubious luck that Sanitation Trucks do double duty collecting about 1/3 of all trash in the alleys. Many alley containers prevent two way traffic, sit there 24-7, and get picked up even when empty.
The overweight 20 ton trucks are destroying the asphalt pavement…….built for 5 ton traffic 50 years ago.
A Special Assessment District will soon add to Triangle property taxes the costs to rebuild the alley pavement. Residents without alleys will be pissed to share the multi-million $$$$ costs.
And why would containers attract salvagers to become burglars?

Chabad alarm goes off several times a day and has done so for weeks now.

Missed the whole Trash Haul episode until the final Council vote. Not the time to tune in, I guess. Have just never seen anything the government has done that couldn’t have been done better by private enterprise. Get concerned when government takes over anything. And adding unions to government doesn’t help.
Also just wonder how this trash separation will work. Will each trash bin have separate compartments?. If so how does truck work to separate that. Or will it be three bins, one for each truck that will come. If that is true, what will happen to parking in Venice, Los Angeles, since bins are in parking lots. Surely, they won’t mix it all together and have some miracle separation system at the end. Miracles can happen.
Will have to read about this ecological wonder that changes the number of haulers from 145 to 11 (the 145 is an unverified figure). I am totally uninformed and no one else seems to know how the separation occurs. Must shut up and get informed.
