Bruce Russell, who wrote Chinatown County:The Sell-Out of Marina del Rey, will give a little talk about his book and sign copies Wednesday, 18 June at 7 pm, Marina City Club, Galaxy Room.
This book tells what happened to Marina del Rey from its inception to the present moment. His book title CHINATOWN COUNTY draws a comparison between county subterfuges to privatize the publicly-owned Marina and L.A. City’s duplicitous takeover of Owens Valley water early in the last century as fictionalized in Roman Polanski’s classic CHINATOWN.
Russell was a foreign correspondent for Reuters New Agency in Asia and Africa and was bureau chief in Washington and in Los Angeles.
