I was unloading my truck in the alley when this creep pulled up right behind my truck with a bunch of crap tied on his car (automobile version of a vagrants shopping basket) and just came out of his car walking toward my truck until Zoe came out. We had been in our shed for half a minute putting wood from my truck in. He heads back to his car. I’m trying to decide if Zoe took a huge poop or if he reeked of serious skunk weed….
(Heather took several pictures of vagrants all of which were too out of focus to print.) It’s unsafe and I’m sick to death of police who drive by and city leaders who want to turn Fisherman’s Village into Las Vegas while they could care less about the safety and infrastructure our city. It’s summer in our neighborhood. Kids are bicycling and scootering and skateboarding and playing in our neighborhood. They should under NO circumstances be constantly bombarded by these threats while just playing in their own yard or hopscotch on the sidewalk!!! The infrastructure and traffic has everyone so frustrated and in such a hurry plus either being stoned or texting or just plain selfish that they speed through the streets with not even stopping for kids at stop signs….
It’s summer in Venice yes, but the usual threats seem magnified and to have multiplied like a virus.
And the slurries streets that lose the stop sign lines….even a responsible driver is at risk for missing the stop with no markings. Stop signs are often obscured by trees and large cars and those street lines are the only indicator.
Comment: Limit lines were put on streets that were slurryied last Monday. Yes, very dangerous. Obviously, people see limit lines better than stop signs.

Buddy’s photo/expression and story cheered up my day.

To all animal lovers and animal owners:
Please ID, microchip and spay and neuter all of your cats. Venice has a huge feral population which does not need help from house cats that have homes. Loving your pet means loving their kind. Their kind do not need more homeless ferals added to the population. Most lost lets do not end up reunited and spaying and neutering them can keep them from wandering or at least from creating more unwanted kittens/puppies if they do.

I just want to say that a few of my neighbors and I have been really impressed with the LAPD’s Peter Abskharon, our senior lead officer, right now. He’s been great about dealing with problems quickly and with diplomacy. We appreciate the police for taking on serious crime, but quality of life issues are important. (Most of us will not be victims of serious crime. It’s the lesser day-to-day violations that can make our lives miserable.) Anyway, if you live in the area officer Peter Abskharon covers, consider yourself lucky.

I was just chased down Lincoln by a hobo. I was literally running down the median. Young meth head type in plaid shorts approaches me. I told him to get the %&&^&* away from me cuz I was on a walk street in a very vulnerable place. I walked away and went toward my car to leave and he started to chase me in traffic
