Outgoing President of Venice Neighborhood Council Linda Lucks hands gavel to Mike Newhouse, the new president. President Newhouse served as president before Linda Lucks and Lucks held the office for two terms. She will be president emeritus.

The Venice Neighborhood Council met Tuesday night mainly to install the new officers, elect administrative committee (Ad-Com) officers and select ad-hoc committees and ad-hoc committee chairs or co-chairs.
Eduardo Manilla, Ira Koslow, Abigail Myers, and Melissa Diner were elected to the administrative committee.
The ad-hoc committees chosen and the chairs and co-chairs are as follows:
Santa Monica Airport—Laura Silagi and Abigail Myers
Public Safety—George Francisco
Environment—Abigail Myers and Erin Sullivan
Discussion Forum—Joe Murphy
Mass, Scale and Character—Sue Kaplan
Parking and Transportation—Abigail Myers
Housing—Abigail Myers and Helen Stotler
Communications—Jed Pauker
The council voted to turn down the small lot subdivision at 1740 Penmar Ave. The subdivision was turned down by the Land Use and Planning Committee at their previous meeting.
It was announced that 320 Sunset would be heard by Land Use and Planning Committee at their next meet. The 5 and 7 Dudley projects, the restaurant and the market, will be heard at the next VNC meet in July.
