SCAM ALERT! Several people in Mar Vista have reported receiving phone calls from someone identifying themselves as from the audit department of the IRS. One was a prerecorded voice message with an 800 number. The other was a live person from a local area code. Both said there was a petition out on the individuals for tax fraud or tax evasion.
WHAT TO DO: Hang up immediately and if you have been left a message, do not call back. Report it to the IRS 800-366-4484. Then report the incident to the Treasury Department at 1-800-366-4484.
