Department of Water is stepping up enforcement of water conservation ordinance. Fines are $100 to $300 for residential and $200 to $600 for commercial. Phase 2 says one cannot do the following.
• Watering more than 3 days a week. Odd addresses may water with sprinklers Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even addresses may water Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Absolutely no watering on Saturdays.
• Watering between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.
• Watering more than 8 minutes per station.
• Watering of any hard surfaces such as sidewalks, walkways, driveways or parking areas, except for sanitary purposes.
• Outdoor watering during periods of rain.
• Allowing runoff onto streets and gutters from excessive watering.
• Allowing leaks from any pipe or fixture to go unrepaired.
• Washing vehicles without using a hose with a self-closing water shut-off nozzle.
