I am sorry the dog was stolen, however the poor thing decorated like a cupcake, which likely took great amounts of time and expense, was “Not wearing collar, not microchipped, not spayed.”………..no microchip, no collar, and is not spayed??????” All of that is plain irresponsible. There is no excuse for not having a microchip or collar. Spaying? If you have ever been to a shelter, to see the amount of dogs who will likely be euthanized or at least spend months there with no home, you would know that the combo of no collar, no microchip, and no spay/neuter ( after four years of time to do so) is precisely why most of the shelters are full in the first place. Yours was stolen so likely won’t end up there but the irresponsible ID/spay factor is disrespectful to any dog that is. While I empathize with the heartache of losing a pet, and I am sure you love your dog, I must say (likely the thoughts of many others who won’t say it). If you get her back spend more time on protective measures such as ID/spay rather than decorative ones.

Next four comments refer to story about Cow’s End owner Clabe Hartley.

Wow. Just terrible. Thanks so much for sending this.

That story about our long time Cow’s End owner is absolutely shameful. A hard working proprietor who obeys all the laws is left to enforce them as well. LAPD has no true interest in making the area safe for residents. I have been victimized by vagrants on several occasions. Local Law/governance/Police don’t care, in spite of calling LAPD and/or making police reports. They give out beach dog walking tickets to people who can pay the fine, while a circle of open container high vagrants is 15 feet away is receiving no tickets, because there is no profit in it.

Shame on LA/Venice/Marina for creating no boundaries or consequences for this increasing loss of the quality of life for the people that have worked, paid taxes, raised kids, and lived here for generations. They do NOT have our interests or quality of life in mind whatsoever. Homeless is too big of an umbrella to put people under. There are “homeless” and there are “bums and vagrants”. The homeless are just trying to survive, perhaps veterans or mentally ill down on their luck. The bums and vagrants are out to sponge and take and to hell with anyone else, they abuse drugs, alcohol, and are angry at the world that they refuse to participate in. This younger lot is mostly vagrants and bums. One can be empathetic to the plight of someone, and still require laws be followed, accountability, and responsibility.

Clabe is one of the good guys.

Freak occurrence? What? Are you kidding? Tell it to Jack Hoffman who nearly died after being stabbed by a homeless guy he tried to help for months and turned on him. Tell it to Eun Kang who was murdered in her home on Electric Ave by a transient along with her unborn baby. The only difference here is that Clabe donates to the local Democratic Party. So maybe Mike Bonin his councilman will finally pay attention. Can’t feed your campaigns when you donors hands get bitten Councilman Mike.

If you can share info from the link below, and ask neighbors to sign (or email me stating their support of the Rejuvenation of Centennial Park), that would be FANTASTIC!

Our goal is to reach 100 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here.

The colorful pup that was stolen was returned to owner. There are all kinds of people who try to get the “best creep out there” award and one who takes innocent pups has got to top the list.
