Oddly, my house, built in 1905, also Islamic-Byzantine, is not on that list of historic structures in Venice. Or I missed it.

Tents on sidewalks? Clearly, those on our city council who voted for this, have as the furthest thing from their minds, people who are wheelchair-bound. Imagine how hard it is to get around if you cannot walk and must rely on a wheelchair. You come upon a tent. You can’t just hop off the curb and continue on your way. And remember that many people who pitch these tents (per experience on our block, unfortunately) will leave them for a period of time to go, say, take a poop in our bushes. What then for the wheelchair-bound person. Just sit there and hope they come back before too long?

Found dog under dumpster at Thatcher and Berkeley. Found owner. Owner doesn’t want it. Now need to find good home for dog. Sad story.
“As it turns out my wife went to the vet and the dog did have a chip,” he wrote. “We called the number of the chip service and they called the dog owner on our behalf. The dog owner did not call us back after two hours so we finally obtained the owners direct number and called her. She told us that she moved (30 minutes inland) and was unable to come back and get the dog because it was too far. She tried to play it off as though she gave the dog to someone local but coincidentally doesn’t have their name, address or any information.
“Who moves and leaves their dog behind! Anyway, the dog is now safe with us and we are looking for a home. I have 3 kids and one dog already so we aren’t looking to add a 2nd one to the mix but we will not turn her over to a shelter. We are looking for a home. The dog is super cute. She slept under the covers with my son all night. Her name is Bella. I put this on the fb page already. If you could include in the next post that would be amazing.”

In response to Nick Antonicello’s VU update comment: “Why is there more crime as more rich move into Venice?”
Here’s one possible theory – More crime as more rich and more homeless and developers all CLASH in Venice.
Venice used to be friendly to homeless.
Homeless getting swept off streets makes them angry.
People getting evicted from their rental units makes them angry.
Developers not getting what they want as easily as they used to makes them angry.
Tires slashed on Vernon – was it a homeless person, a developer or just a delinquent? Car that got most slashed was a homeless van – all 4 tires. Rest of cars – 1 tire. Remember, the homeless person’s van that got torched? Cops killing homeless? Who is doing the most damage?
Venice is getting way overdeveloped with no infrastructure to support it and no water in the state. And, there’s a CLASH of rich, poor, homeless, developers and police. KA-POW – more crime.
Mayor Garcetti and Councilman Bonin need to push the PAUSE button on Venice.

Please do not use the Statue of Liberty, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution or any other document to justify amnesty for five million illegals. There are people following the law waiting in line. Our government has established a system of immigration, let’s follow that; otherwise, we establish a precedent we may not be able to live with and one that is not just for all.
