Ryavec Says City, County have Double Standard for Park Camping

“Here’s yet another example of the City’s double standard on enforcement of the “no camping in parks” ordinance?” wrote Mark Ryavec, president of Venice Stakeholders Association.

“The park next to City Hall has no campers, but Venice Beach has hundreds.

“The LAPD and County Beaches and Harbors ejects campers from Will Rogers Beach today, but lets hundreds continue to occupy Venice Beach.

“LA City and LA County continue to treat Venice as an unwanted and unvalued step-child, while giving enforcement preference to other areas of the City and County.

“It’s no wonder we had to bring a lawsuit,” continued Ryavec.

Beaches & Harbors !!!!!!!!!!

Attached are some photos (Update only used one.) of what can happen when we all work together…and some people like Jose Bedolla from Beaches and Harbors, and our new West LA Captain Nieto and her staff…and PacPali Task Force……….take initiative !!!!!

There were 3 black & whites on the sand this morning and a whole lot of officers (who we know will be cleaning the sand out of their shoes forever) going tent to tent, speaking their residents, having them pack up….and I could see that because they were out in numbers with the lights flashing..etc, people were packing up their tents.

I think because Jose posted the signs, the officers can now site the campers…..with continued enforcement, they will leave permanently. This might be a good time, while these people are feeling threatened, so are more vulnerable, to have the mental health services go in, or any other community service to try to find homes, or meds or whatever to help these folks relocate (and not into the tunnel at West Channel and PCH) but maybe they would be more open to help.

THANK YOU AGAIN to ALL of you who are working to make this solution happen. !!!!!!!!!!
