Your Update is fabulous. Couldn’t keep up on Venice without it. Was especially pleased to listen to the CCC meeting regarding the Abbot Kinney Black Beast and some of the Commissioner’s views on LA’s bike rack substitution plan for parking spaces as it pertains to the Venice Land Use Plan.

Please add the Pot Luck aspect of the VNC BBQ.
Without people bringing their wonderful sides and desserts, we are only eating meat.

Shout out to Mark for the dog rescue. If Mark has a last name, I will look for him on FB and repost. PS the owner should be put in jail for animal cruelty, which is against the law in California.

I did forget the CLASH in my article includes RESIDENTS, HOMELESS, RICH, POOR, MIDDLE CLASS, POLICE, DEVELOPERS, POLITICIANS

I’m sure someone will comment.

We adopted that sweet dog (found out her name is Bella) to a very nice woman who was so excited. She is going to spoil her rotten. Great news.

I read Adam Firestone’s sad story about the 3-year delay in getting permits for his restaurant on Washington Boulevard. Mr. Firestone was told before he had even applied for permits that a Zone Variance was needed for operating a demonstration brewery on site. John Reed was a member of the LUPC at the time, and he told Mr. Firestone that a Zone Variance was required. John Reed knows more than anyone I’ve ever met about the L.A. planning code, and he is always correct. And I doubt that Mr. Firestone was forced to sell his brewery to the Flemish due to the unexpected expense of carrying the Washington Boulevard property during the 3-year delay. Firestone Walker Brewing Co. makes a popular product and their business is lucrative, and I doubt Mr. Firestone is behind on the payments for his Gulfstream IV that he flew to Santa Monica to attend the hearings. Mr. Firestone’s sad story seems inaccurate.

“Take a deep breath and exhale the negative – boundaries, limiting thoughts, old chapters. Once you let go, peace, love and happiness will rush in. It’s a beautiful world. It’s up to you to make your life beautiful, too.” – Jesse Billauer, Life Rolls On Founder & Executive Director / CEO

IMHO the Update should not publish anonymous submissions unless there is a realistic fear of property or bodily harm. The only other reasons I can think of for requesting it are fear that others will think less of you for having that opinion and fear that others will try to convince you otherwise. You are right. That is what dialogue is – person to person communication, trying to find the right answers.

Regarding possible amnesty for 5 milllion. Do you really want the parents of millions of families deported? How do you propose raising their U.S. citizen children? There are not enough foster homes. Assuming that 90% of those 5 million have jobs, how do you think filling 4,500,000 sudden job openings should be handled? Do you think that might result in a swarm of new illegal non English speaking immigrants? Have you thought further than whether amnesty is fair to those who have waited, following the rules for entry? What to do about undocumented residents is not a simple problem, and there are no easy answers.
