Java mural has been on building since 1975 at Dell and South Venice Blvd.

The “Jaya Mural Clean-Up and Re-Coating” was completed on Tuesday. It will preserve and protect our iconic Venice Canals historical mural from the weather and graffiti.
The work was done by the Mural Rescue Program team under the direction of Carlos Rogel from the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). We were also pleased that Emily Winters, the mural’s designer and artist, was there.
The process removed pollutants, dirt, and previous coatings by brushing the mural with soap and water, and power washing. Then, two new coatings of Mural Shield and WB Graffiti Coating were applied.
