Homelessness in Los Angeles increased 12 percent and in Venice 16 percent in last two years, yet Los Angeles is thinking about not allowing sleeping on the sidewalks and other public areas.
In 2006 the law was changed to allow homeless to sleep on the sidewalk from 9 pm to 6 am until there were so many units built in Los Angeles. Article indicates number of units should be achieved by next month.
Carol Sobel says LA has to go back to the drawing board to figure out what causes homelessness and not punish people for their status.
