Mark Ryavec, who is running for Councilman Mike Bonin’s seat, claimed today that Bonin’s proposal to revamp police protocol regarding complaints was his idea.
“Imitation is the highest form of flattery, so I should take as a compliment that Bonin has taken one of my proposals and presented it as his,” wrote Mark Ryavec, candidate for CD11 Council Seat.
“Several weeks ago I posted on my website:
I will lead an effort to change the way the city assigns police to increase police presence in CD 11. Right now the LAPD only logs telephone calls. Since no one has the time to wait 40 minutes on ASK LAPD, the city should start counting emails or reports on the 311 mobile phone app about incidents and complaints so CD 11 gets the police coverage their taxes already pay for.
“I’ve also spoken to neighborhood councils and presented this proposal with Bonin’s deputies in the audience.
“So, after three and a half years of ignoring resident complaints that policing levels are unsafe in CD 11, Bonin is following my lead to change deployment protocols.
“I’m already having a positive effect for residents and I haven’t even been elected yet.”
Is it true that the only reason Mark Ryavec is living in Venice is because he was banished from his hometown of Santa Monica for not being liberal enough ?
Bonin will do what is right by the homeless who live in RV’s in Venice. No way the law will be enforced. I mean how can civil liberties of people that display handicap placards.

The new vehicle camping law, set to be enforced in February, is already being called INADEQUATE by Councilman Bonin as he want more residential streets opened up to RV camping ONLY in Venice, not the other areas of CD 11.
I hope a lot of people learned a good lesson about the need to vote or else you’re voice will not be heard.
Bonin must be defeated this March if you want this violence and filth in our community abated!
Mike Bonin and his campaign is an embarrassment to the political process. A complete and total Machiavellian by any standard, his ambition blinds his ability to govern or get anything actually done. Now if he wins he’ll receive nearly a million dollars in compensation over 5.6 years not counting free healthcare and pension credits. Anyone but Bonin!
And if Herr Ryavec wins (which he won’t) he’ll get the same deal. And that is of course the main reason why he’s even running. Everything Herr Ryavec does is motivated by his greed for more money, including his obsessive harassment of homeless people who have nothing in many cases but the clothes on their back.

I seriously doubt Bonin has to worry about Ryavec stealing the election away from him. I can’t see that prosecuting the poor for sleeping on the street as a positive effect on anyone.
