An article in the San Francisco Examiner explains how San Francisco is dealing with many of the homeless. They are giving them a one-way ticket home with $10 per day allowance. Article says San Francisco sends home 815 to 942 per year to a tune of 10,000 since program was initiated.
And “Add to that stepped up police enforcement with a specialized neighborhood crime unit and a ban of encampments on sidewalks with authority to remove them within 24 hours after offering shelter — two measures that are expected to go before voters in November — and those bus tickets could start looking a lot more appealing to San Francisco’s homeless.”
