Each year the Venice Canals has a Christmas parade sponsored by the Venice Canals Association. Families get together and enter a “float” which is a floating boat with a “statement” that is funny, poignant or otherwise. This year it was the 34th and Darryl Dufay, who covers the canals with his Voice of Canals email for association members and his website at voiceofthecanals.org, says and photographs it all

The sun was out and then it wasn’t. The anticipated rain had not begun. Still hundreds of residents and friends lined the sidewalks and bridges. It was one of the most diverse and enjoyable parades we have seen. The variety, ingenuity, and artistic ability of the boat builders was outstanding.The Venice Canals Association was again the sponsor and along with the community who participated and/or attended they made the event a great success.
