Gateway,a 21-unit apartment complex at 13368 Beach Ave., held an opening ceremony Wednesday (4 May).
Gateway is now home to 21 formerly chronically and disabled homeless individuals with severe health issues and who were most in need of housing.
The development was a joint venture with the Venice Community Housing and the Hollywood Community Housing Corporation

Thanks for stopping by Reta. The building and the apartments in them are well designed and the tenants, who had been chronically homeless and disabled are very happy to be “home.” One tenant spoke for all and said he graduated from Venice High School 36 years ago and was so happy to be back in the area. He came from a shelter after losing his job of 12 years working at Bed Bath & Beyond because of an injury.
Councilman Mike Bonin spoke and praised the Del Rey Neighborhood Council and Del Rey (members were present as were a few VNC members), for being a community of “yes.”
