Kari Peck of 700 block of Oxford Avenue, west side, had an experience of which all should be made aware. The 700 block of Oxford Ave on west side has a fence that runs from Washington Blvd to the end of Harbor Crossing, which is the south end of Thatcher. The fence has been “broken” in certain areas, at various times. One of the houses in Harbor Crossing had a broken fence and the house was robbed last year. This is Kari’s story:
Wanted everyone to know that at 1 pm today (Monday, 29 April) someone tried to sledgehammer my wall (backyard fence)! I was in my back yard doing some gardening and heard loud thuds! I looked toward the fence and saw a white male with a faded bandana, grey/blondish hair, mature in age (guessing) as I only saw the top/back of his head! I called out “what’s going on?” And he took off down to Washington Blvd. I grabbed my phone and walked down Oxford Ave to see if I could spot him! Gone of course.
Called sheriff’s department on Fiji and they told me it was my wall and to call LAPD Pacific division. I was referred to a number 310-482-6488, they referred me to 310-482-6334, they referred me to 310 482-6335! Last number, only voice mail and I left message! So far, I made five separate phone calls and I’m nowhere! What the hell is going on?
Since by that time it was not life threatening, I didn’t call 911. Maybe I should have?…..
I’m a few houses down from Washington on Oxford. I know walls have been broken into sometime back and people burglarized! HEADS UP NEIGHBORS!
Comment: Behind that fence (west) is county land. Sheriff said that fence was City. True. Perpetrator was County as well as the sledge hammer. Home owner wants the removal of the perpetrator, not the fence. So what is sheriff’s problem?
Update attends neighborhood watch meets with LAPD. Update attends community police advisory board meets. Update puts pertinent info in Update. People do such as report that they should, and nothing happens, ref the knock-knock people in Triangle. We were told by detective if we suspected knock-knock burglars, to call 911. Sonia Gust did such and she said no one came.
It is discouraging to hear of Kari Peck and Sonia Gust problems.
The two numbers to remember are: 911 and police dispatch at 213-928-8223. The county land, sheriff’s number, Update does not have.
