Nick, I agree that Bonin really doesn’t need votes from Venice to win. I disagree that he uses Venice as a dumping ground for the homeless. The homeless flock to Venice because of the tolerance for alternative lifestyles. The gentrifiers need to learn tolerance of the homeless. I am glad Bonin has chosen Venice for all these wonderful projects.

There are 124 election precincts in CD-11, only 20 in Venice. He can lose every Venice precinct and still win the remaining 104 districts and get reelected. It’s the math of politics. Moreover, Venice is fractured among many candidates and all Bonin wants is a split of the anti-Bonin vote. The most liberal of voters strangely still stick with Mike because of the notion that they feel he cannot lose. He won’t have to campaign again until 2022-23. Nice work if you can get it, a $980,000 contract not including pension credits and free healthcare benefits courtesy of LA chumps, I mean taxpayers…#Vexit
There are over 25,000 homeless people in the City of Los Angeles. This constant mantra of people like you who continue to make the claim that Venice is bearing the brunt of it is laughable. There isn’t a single part of this city that hasn’t been impacted by this problem. And the blame for it all lies on various factors in play that are causing rents in Los Angeles to rise to the heights of ridiculousness. Not everybody can afford to pay over 1,000 a month for a single apartment. And some people just don’t want to for the simple reason that it is too much damned money to have to come up month just to have a roof over your head. And the answer isn’t ” If you can’t afford to live here move somewhere cheaper.” The answer is more affordable housing for all the thousands of people in this city who aren’t making thousands of dollars a month like some of you are.
