I just wanted to advise you that there were two incidents that occurred last Thursday and Friday near Venice High School. In both incidents bicyclist were riding on the south sidewalk when the victim was attacked by a suspect with a bat. If anyone has seen anything, please give me a call, and if you ride your bike in that area please be safe.

Patches and I were walking in Yvonne B Burke Park along Admiralty Way in Marina Del Rey about three weeks ago and we noticed that all the gopher or ground squirrel or chipmunk holes north of the bike path were filled in with dirt. No little heads were popping out looking at us; Patches couldn’t stick his snout in the holes to snuffle. Neither of us really knew what the animals were; just that they were cuties and now missing.
What happened?
Burke Park is managed by LA County Beaches and Harbors, and they told me they have no idea why the critters disappeared.

I submitted comments on the Oxford Basin MND and Initial Study basically supporting the argument that these documents are inadequate and a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) is required. I have not been notified by the County on whether they agree or litigation will need to be initiated.
One of the concerns I have with this process is, “Set up advisory group for Oxford basin restoration planning by 2009” and the proposed update to the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Plan Update (SMBRPU), “Completed and therefore deleted.” Josh Svensson, the LACDPW Oxford Basin project planner told me the Oxford advisory group was never formed.
Does anyone have meeting documentation or know of anyone who sat on the Oxford advisory group?
We should be celebrating the 50th anniversary rededication of the Roland C. Ross Bird Conservation Area (BCA) this summer, not allowing the County, Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission/Foundation, Heal The Bay, and others that purport they are protecting the environment/ecosystem from the continued abuse of utilizing this dedicated BCA as an urban runoff pollution control basin and planned conversion to a public park and walking/jogging path for the Oceana Luxury Senior Living Facility.
Doesn’t Bird Sanctuary mean anything to you? Apparently, it means nothing to at least 3 of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
One of the SMBRPU Objectives is, “Eliminate all harmful discharges to Areas of Special Biological Significance (ASBS).” How ambiguous of them to allow discharges into the Oxford Bird Conservation Area and Hyperion’s discharges into the Santa Monica Bay. It’s a sham that won’t stop until each and every one of you step up.

I hope people will get really well informed about ALL of the radiation sources in their environment. I sense that FEAR will stay in the uninformed. And that fear will do far more damage than most sources of radio waves. I am placing all my marbles into the education effort.
I am no longer against the installation. But for good oversight to see that contracts are accurately fulfilled.

How do you feel about the fireworks? I had someone drive by and throw illegal fireworks in front of our house. And Washington sounds line WWII. I wish we could stop this annual ritual in our neighborhood
