Peter G of Oxford …Spoke to the Sanitation Division Drivers….Drivers recommended that it would be helpful to turn the container sideways, so when coming down, the lid flap does not hit close-by structure, wall, tree or plants.

This can avoid or slow damage wear and tear to property and containers.

Open letter from one neighbor to another

Ref: Letter was sent using names and signed.  Names have been removed.    Perhaps, some of you have a similar problem.  Share your problems with this person.

To Update:

It took me a whole five minutes to decide to take a neighborly path.  You see, my neighbor, she likes to leave notes on her neighbors’ cars (mine, across the street neighbors, her other neighbor, my direct neighbor who is two doors from her, etc).  She leaves rude notes and will go as far as having words about how we are to NOT park in front of her house because that is HER spot.
This is the same neighbor that I’ve had for thirty years so I know her well enough to not park in front of her house and request that my family and guests do the same.My neighbor has driven her own husband to points of rage where he has physically demolished her car in front of their house by ramming it with his own.  They demolished both mine and their other neighbor’s car in the process.

All this has to stop.  Life should be easier than all that.

She is parked in front of my house right now, as illustrated by this photo. (Photo not shown.)   Luckily, I’m normal and parked in another available spot on our street.  Plus I have a Smart car, so I fit most places just perfect!

Here’s the thing – I don’t mind if my neighbor parks in front of my house, even those neighbors!

Why?  Because I love them and wish them well and peace.

I write this to our community because maybe there are more stories of neighborhood bitterness amongst each other regarding issues similar to this.

Breathe deep, close your eyes, open them, we live in paradise, my neighbors.  Let’s live in paradise with each other.

Enjoy life.  Love thy neighbor.  Be kind to each other.  I put a flower and a kind note on her car just after taking this photo.

I love you both!  Park here ANYTIME!!!

Rick F of Rose Avenue …NY Times article sent to me by old tenant/longtime friend…. Exaggerated comparison with racist overtones…

http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2013/02/17/travel/20130217-SURFACING-6.html

“Proof is everywhere that Rose Avenue, which runs through the bohemian Los Angeles enclave of Venice, is blossoming. New condo buildings, upmarket restaurants and boutiques now dot the once-seedy stretch; juice bars and design stores are replacing pawnshops and liquor stores.”

We never had pawn shops, thrift shops or liquor only stores.  Only a few markets, a commercial bakery, and aircraft machine shops, and a few social service offices.  It is interesting how they ignore the LA city-made homeless mecca and try to make Venice seem like it was Compton without using the word “black” once.

Wolf S of Yale …Ref:  Wolf sent 10 July 4th photos -best of the last ten years.  They were spectacular.  Each photo requires me to go thru a process that I didn’t feel I had time to do.  So I thank you for the photos but it takes time to do each photo, and ten takes 10 times longer.  If anyone would like to see them, I will forward them upon request.

The best of the last 10 years, and it’s cool to be right below them.
They went off at low altitude below the clouds for once.
Next year maybe they will coordinate with music on the radio.

Robert Aronson of Venice …4th

Attached is a photo I took last night at the southern tip of Venice, you can call it “Love Explodes over Venice.”

Wolf S of Yale …Postal Service program created after anthrax attacks gathers photos of the exterior of every piece of paper mail processed in the nation – about 160 billion pieces last year. http://nyti.ms/12dEbdV.

Karen M of Dickson …I was not too thrilled with the 3-day event of the illegal fireworks going on in the neighborhood, especially since one of my dogs has ear issues and gets really upset with the big explosions like the ones going on in the neighborhood.  Even well after midnight last night.  It’s just inconsiderate.

Kari Peck of Oxford …I’m with Nancy; the illegal fireworks went on all evening on the corner of Washington and Oxford! Came from the brown house on the corner! It was out of control and very unsettling!

Good thing no fires was started! This Fourth of July madness was not fun! Who is that idiot on the corner setting off these illegal fireworks????

Great neighborhood friend???????

And the bike path was a moving mass of drunk and belligerent young adults! I literally watched them fall off their bikes! Yuck!

Nancy T of Carter …I never usually respond to this letter but last night walking home to carter from cal yacht club through the hole in the fence some people in the enclosed apartments area were shooting giant fireworks into the air, one couple even fired a giant Roman candle toward the transistor cylinder on the power lines.  I warned them as we ran, that may not be a smart move, but mostly it terrified the children of our guests when sparks rained down toward us.  What can we do? Any suggestions?

Liz W on Berkeley …I’ve noticed that it is hard to get out of the Triangle, since Washington Blvd was repaved and repainted.  Once again, drivers fill the intersections, covering the on-street “KEEP CLEAR” signs.  I spent 2 years getting LADOT to paint the lines that go across the lanes at the beginning of the intersections.  Community reaction was that the lines really helped.  I’ve done my part.  Now it is up to you.  If you want the lines back, tell LADOT to put them back.  There are over 350 homes that MUST use Washington Blvd to exit the Triangle.  Quite possibly, if 349 calls are made, the lines will reappear very quickly.  If no calls are made, no lines will be painted.
