Members of the garden club gathered to learn how to use their garbage to make compost. Many of the various “containers” used in composting were shown plus the benefit and utility of using paper and cardboard. The benefit and uses of “worm juice or tea” were explained but not tasted.
Ying-Nien Yu showed a hydroponic garden he had produced for sale years ago and was sold at Sears. He had one left that he kept for the memories.
“The Oxford Triangle Garden Club is a group of neighbors dedicated to increasing the number of vegetable gardens in our area through education and hands-on training,” according to organizer Rebecca “Becky” Wolfe, who along with Shawna Hellenius, has gotten this club up and going. Last month they discussed seeds. Next meet will be in January because of the holiday season.
They meet every second Sunday and “we want gardeners and nongardeners,” Becky said and then added that “now is the perfect time to plant lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, kale, carrots–and more.”
