Reta Moser, resident of Triangle, tried to slip the date of the Firestone hearing with LUPC until neighborhood could be notified of the change of hours for the proposed brewery.

December there was a meet and greet with LUPC representative and Firestone.  Hours were stated as 11 pm.  LUPC has since advised Firestone to change hours to 2 am.  Following is answer from Jim Murez as to how it works.

The answer to your question is to show up and voice your opinion.  You have been given the legal notification requirements of 72 hours.  And keep in mind besides the LUPC meeting there is a Board meeting in January where you will get a second chance to express yourself before this project leaves the VNC.  The Board meeting is more than one month away.

The time change of time was a suggestion I made after many people from the community asked me why they were closing so much earlier than all the other businesses of the same type along the street.  I think the applicant also got several email messages asking the same thing.  As a result, I asked the applicant to produce a study of the other businesses and to be prepared to show what those other businesses have as hours.  That report is on Cityhood for you to review.

My impression is they are not talking about the retail sales only the restaurant.  I cannot speak for the applicant but I would guess they will be willing to keep the retail sales hours restricted to something less than the restaurant.

Furthermore, if you have any information that suggests the other businesses along Washington who’s hours are all open till 2 AM have been causing problems, please provide it as soon as possible.  I would need time to confirm any claims prior to our meeting for it to be officially added to my final staff report.  Otherwise, you can produce it at the Board meeting but again, it needs to be verified if the Board is to make any Findings based on your knowledge.  The verification of information is a requirement before publishing legal Findings.
