Gary Harris, long time resident of Ocean Front Walk (OFW), proposes that the food trucks combined with music, art, and multimedia events come to Windward Circle in the evenings after the sun goes down.

Food trucks were discussed at the Ocean Front Walk Task force meeting last week. It was clear that restaurant owners felt the City, with the food trucks lined up on Windward Circle, was in competition for the lunch revenue with the property owners on east side of OFW.

Gary Harris agrees with his restaurant neighbors that the food truck, food court competes with the restaurants on east side of OFW. However, he believes that since there is little activity on the boardwalk at night, food trucks combined with a venue of some sort would attract new, good business activity on the boardwalk and that the boardwalk restaurants would benefit by additional people that otherwise would not be drawn to the boardwalk.

“Sun goes down and the area is dead,” said Gary. Sidewalk café and the other restaurants get little business from the boardwalk at night, so bring the food trucks in then. Maybe bring in a band. Get an event going. I think it couldn’t hurt to try it for a few months maybe do an event a month and see what happens.
