Members of Washington Group III, who own Scopa restaurant at 2905-2907 Washington Blvd, are still thinking, according to James Pugh attorney for the group.
Pugh said that “Owners have been talking with City Planning and have been trying to decide what route is best for them.”
They were operating under a 1983 exemption and went for a plan approval for a 20 percent increase in occupancy in March. They did not follow proper hearing procedure so hearing did not take place but exemption states that increasing occupancy or changing ownership violates exemption. The alternative is a new conditional use permit.
