The California Coastal Commission day was taken with Venice projects. First the commission heard the Oxtord Retention Basin and then they heard and approved all the Venice de minimis projects, one by one.
The commissioners also discussed “de minimis.” They determined that remodels should move on. But one commissioner stated she would like to determine a percentage of what a remodel is to determine whether it should move on for future cases.
New building and/or demolition was discussed. Another statement was made that perhaps demolition and/or new buildings should go back to the City and be subject to the 1978 process. Nothing was decided.
One statement was made regarding “character.” A commissioner stated that “We (meaning the commissioners) cannot solve character problems. That is up to the City.”
