New LUPC Goes to Work Tuesday

The newly seated Land Use and Planning Committee, headed by Chair Robin Rudisill, will have its first meeting Tuesday (29 July) at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Blvd from 6:45 to 10 pm.

The first meeting will cover a patio addition to existing bar/music venue at 2536 Lincoln; two AT&T towers, one at 1515 Pacific Ave and one at 737 Washington Blvd; two small-lot subdivisions, one at 666 Vernon Ave and one at 672 Brooks.

Former members Mehrnoosh Mojallali and Robert Aronson and new members, Ramsey Daham, Todd Darling, Mark Kleiman, Kathleen Rawson, Maury Ruano, and Gabriel Ruspini will form the new LUPC.

There will be a report, “Short-Term Rentals/Neighborhoods First” by Dr. Judy Goldman, chair of the ad-hoc committee. There will be a discussion regarding previously approved CUB conditions related to alcohol for Joe’s restaurant at 1023 Abbot Kinney Blvd. The City Attorney’s letter regarding unenforceable conditions will also be reviewed.

Rudisill will name the chairs for the Ad Hoc Subcommittees. Rudisill will also report on complaints filed regarding garages illegally converted to living spaces and will include information applicable to the Mello Act.

The restaurant at 2536 Lincoln Blvd wants to add 440 square feet to an existing outdoor patio. They plan to extend an existing conditional use permit for alcohol and music.

The AT&T tower at 1515 Pacific is a modification to an existing tower and they are requesting a height variance of 51 feet, four inches in area where 30 feet is the limit.

AT&T tower at 737 Washington Blvd is a new installation and AT&T wants a height variance of 37 feet, 6 inches. Height limit in area is 30 feet. An AT&T tower at this location was defeated previously.

The two small-lot subdivisions, 665 Vernon and 672 Brooks, will be presented by Mehrnoosh Mojallali.
