Challis Macpherson is revving up to defend the latest directive to the single-lot subdivision (SLS) ordinance. The new directive, which makes the ordinance subordinate to the Venice Specific Plan (VSP), as is the Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC), has been appealed.
The appeal is tentatively set for 23 October. Len Judaken, developer of 522 Venice Blvd has appealed the decision.
Challis Macpherson is former chair of Land Useand Planning committee (LUPC) and was the appellant to single-lot subdivision (SLS) ordinance in 2009 when it was not in cinc with the Venice Specific Plan.
Macpherson won a few things but the SLS still presented conflicts with the VSP and she was more than willing to explain such at the Planning hearings for this. Four years later, a new SLS directive-14 August 2014 and it coincides with the VSP.
Len Judaken has appealed the 2014 directive. Len Judaken is the developer for the 15-unit complex at 522 Venice Blvd that did not fit the VSP and the Los Angeles Planning Commission voted unanimously not to approve the project last December after having gone thru the complete planning and appeal processes.
The Venice Update dated 9 December 2013 is very descriptive of the frustration of LUPC members faced with the LA City Planning department regarding the SLS ordinance and the VSP. The complete issue is devoted to such.
