Beware: “You Are Watched and Targeted”

“You are being watched and targeted,” wrote Pete Abskharon, senior lead officer (SLO) for Oakwood area.

I have experienced the worst month in “Hot Prowl” burglaries so far in 2014 in spite of several neighborhood watch meetings, flier distributions, and publications in Update. Patrol Officers have made several arrests in the past few weeks which cleared many burglaries. But people must realize they are watched and targeted.

“If you leave a room, close all the windows in that area,” he wrote. Many of these burglars cut window screens, reach in a window, and take valuables.

“This is similar to what I’m experiencing in vehicle break-ins (window smashes),” he wrote. “Both of these types of burglaries are preventable and are leading to the increase in property crimes in the area.”

Do not leave valuables in vehicles. Take care in leaving valuables by windows in a house. When leaving house or car, lock the windows and doors. Don’t break your heart and become a statistic. Remember what Pete says: “You are watched and targeted.”
