Captain Nicole Alberca said she has “increased police presence” at the beach since the shooting of the young man on Windward this month.
Start of the beach summer brings out the police too and photos were taken Memorial Day.
Captain Alberca said there are now foot patrols on Windward, Washington Square, Ocean Front Walk and parts of Pacific.
One policeman said he walks back and forth from police substation to Washington Blvd.

The deployment of police officers working in pairs of two’s on the beat would be incredibly effective for several reasons:
1. They get to know the lay of the land as well as the regulars and the store owners and merchants.
2.They become apart of the fabric of OFW.
3. People trust people they know. The same faces develops a relationship with the street. If that trust is developed, LAPD will be far more effective.
4. The proliferated presence on Saturdays and Sundays is in some ways counter productive. The problems are at night during the week in terms of resident complaints, etc. Obviously during the summer, more cops are needed in high season, but it’s the deployment that matters. More cops walking and on bikes seems to make the most sense.
