SB1818–Does It or Doesn’t It Work?–87 Percent Increase in Units

The numbers are out regarding SB1818– Does it or doesn’t it work? Numbers show an 87 percent increase in number of units from 2008 to 2013.

SB1818 provides a density bonus up to 35 percent for builders depending on the number of low and very low income units built and designated at such.

Many have questioned the workability of SB1818. According to table below, SB1818 is clearly working.

The audit is the result of the Venice Neighborhood Council and the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils asking for this audit and report. Councilman Mike Bonin reciprocated by making a motion requesting Housing Community Investment Department, Los Angeles (HCIDLA) report statistics relevant to request.

Last month HCIDLA issued the report.

Two Homeless Measures Get Preliminary Approval

Two measures affecting the homeless received preliminary approval today in City Hall. Because they were not approved unanimously, the measures have to be read again before getting Mayor Eric Garcetti’s signature.

The Lavan injunction which requires a 72-hour notification to remove abandoned belongings from sidewalks and parks would be changed to 24-hour notification. All confiscated items would still be stored for 90 days. Bulky items too big to fit in a 60-gallon bin could be removed immediately without notification.

Councilman Mike Bonin proposed adding more homeless storage throughout the city. His motion was referred to the council’s new homelessness committee, which is slated to meet for the first time Thursday.

Councilman Mike Bonin Needs Your Input

We are building a new and easier way to get to and from LAX, and we need your help to get it right.

As you may have heard, we are finally building a connection between Metro rail and LAX.

One of the most important parts of that plan is an automated people mover that will carry passengers between their terminals and a new facility where you can rent a car, catch a bus, or hop on a Metro train. The facility is in the planning stages now, and we need to hear from you about what will make traveling through this new facility an experience you will enjoy.

Please take a few moments to play the new interactive survey game to let us know how you get to and from LAX and about your dream scenario for traveling to the airport.

Getting cars off the road and making it easier to get to and from our airport has been one of my top priorities as the Councilmember representing the neighborhoods around LAX and a Member of the Metro Board of Directors. Please play the survey game today to help make sure we build a connection between LAX and our transportation system that we, and generations of Angelenos into the future, can be proud of.”

Seems Mad, Not to Mention Strange

lady

Figure stands in weeds at Culver Blvd and Marina (east) Freeway entrance. Update does not stage these strange sightings. Update feels they are planted to be discovered. One big trivia treasure hunt.

Triangle Surrounded by Homeless

tent

Triangle residents feel they are surrounded by homeless. Homeless are all along Washington and Lincoln Blvds in doorways at night, solicitating at the corner during day, and in the shopping center and on Carter, both day and night.. The Maintenance Yard on Thatcher has police and fire there frequently to remove the encampment. The only other area not covered is highlighted by this tent and it is County property. County is continuously removing homeless from the area between the Oxford Retention Basin and the wall on Oxford.

Whose Trees Are They?

Beach Foliage

Birds and vermin have been propagating seeds that have grown to block a priceless view. Question is: Whose trees are they. Would assume they are Beaches and Harbors and they would want to remove them to maintain the view. One man who works for Beaches and Harbors said he thought it was the City’s responsibility. Beaches and Harbors he said handles from the road to the silver fence which includes the sidewalk and the grass. The broken water sprinkler was fixed by Beaches and Harbors immediately upon reading Update and now it is believed to be City property. Jurisdiction does get confusing in the Venice-Marina del Rey area.
