Patricia McPherson, of Grassroots Coalition, will speak at the next Sierra Club Airport Marina Group meeting 15 May, 7 to 8:30 pm at the Burton Chase Park Community Room, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.

MacPherson plans to accomplish the following:

1) identify the Fresh Water Aquifers beneath Ballona Wetlands
2) explain laws that protect these sources of potable drinking water
3) frame the question: how much has Playa Vista’s development altered the watershed/water table at Ballona?
4) tell us how to demand agencies accept responsibility for a Hydrology Study
5) show the need to enforce water laws on the books and save our freshwater

Sierra Club Airport Marina Group will meet 13 September at 7 pm at Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, 90292.  Doug Fay will be the guest speaker and will speak about widening the beach, creating the Marina, and the Oxford Lagoon Bird Sanctuary.

The local Sierra Club will meet at 7 pm, 21 June at Burton Chase Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey. Speaker will be John Tommy Rosas, a Native American Tongva Indian who works to preserve what remains of Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve.

Walter Lamb of the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust will give an update on the Ballona Wetlands Restoration Project Tuesday (April 19) at 7 pm at Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, 90292.

Sierra Club will have a two-yard water saving event Saturday (16 April) noon to 3 pm at 4124 East Blvd and 4177 Marcasel Blvd,Mar Vista, CA 90066

Sierra Club Airport Marina Group will meet 19 January, 7 pm, Burton Chase Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, 90292.

Subject of the meet will be plans for Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve. Also learn about Dock 52, free parking lot, on Fiji Way.  An 8-story dry boat storage building extending 97 feet into Basin H may replace free parking and inhibit access to whale watching parasailing, kayaking, boating, biking and walking from the lot.
