“Weather is getting warmer, so come on out and see what Conductor Wesley Flowers has cookin,” wrote George Francisco. “Remember, all you have to do is come out and have fun and have a drink or a delicious beer from our friends at Santa Monica Brew Works and you will be helping the VSO give free music education to our local public school kids. We make it easy to do good!

You’ve heard of Abbot Kinney’s First Friday. Well, this is the Last Friday and the first of the Last Fridays starts this Friday, 30 January at Danny’s, 7:30 pm at 23 Windward. It will be hosted by the Venice Symphony Orchestra conducted by Wesley Flowers.

The orchestra features brass, strings and percussion. Their repertoire encompasses all types of music.

George Francisco, a symphony booster, said Wesley fits the orchestra to the size of the room. He calls it “The Roomtone Orchestra.” “So he will have between 8-12 pieces at Danny’s and then jump down to a quartet, then probably a late night bluegrass duo,” Francisco stated. “I think he is working on a Beethoven/Ray Charles mash-up to debut. Pretty cool.”

A portion of proceeds will go to support the orchestra’s programs to give free music lessons to homeless youth and educational performances to our local public schools.
