LAX Meet Today
Meet regarding LAX modernization will be at City Hall tomorrow starting at 2:30 pm. Modernization in this case does not include moving a runway. This is a special joint Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) and Trade, Commerce & Tourism Committees meeting.
Councilman Rosendahl Tape
Many are concerned about the LAX modernization. Councilman Bill Rosendahl addressed those on his email list with a film featuring Dr. Barnett, a statistian from Massassachusets Institute of Technology (MIT) who for 35 yers has been a safety expert for NASA and who was brought in by NASA to addressed the LAX runways. (Video was in 4/8 Rosendahl email.)
Dr. Barnett claims the runways did not need modernization other than applying the latest technology available and that they were safe thru 2020. They did not need a tazi runway, which would require moving the north runway further north.
