Is it or Isn’t It???

Douglas Fay walked the “Duck Pond” Sunday with Dr. Margot Griswold, restoration ecologist with LandIQ, Jonathon R. Coffin, and Kathy Knight, the latter both local ecologists. Fay wanted to know how he could accommodate what the County wanted with the land and what a bird conservation area needed. County has tried to discount the fact that the “Duck Pond” was a dedicated Bird Conservation Area.

Douglas Fay, candidate for County Board of Supervisors, has long contended that the “duck pond” dubbed the Oxford Retention Basin was a dedicated Bird Conservation Area back in the 60’s. What sign did he find attached to the area but the one pictured above.

According to Fay, the project sought grant funding as a habitat restoration project, but is not acting as such. He is suing for a full environmental impact report (EIR). He is set to meet with the County in a settlement conference 3 March.

Fay made the statement that the proposed Wallis Annenberg Center would be more fitting where the senior center is proposed than the Ballona Wetlands. The senior center could be put any where in Marina. But the Annenberg center would be perfect for that plot of land, which is west of duck pond.

As well as catching pictures of a Heron hiding and a Snowy Egret, Jonathon captured this Female Belted Kingfisher.
