Reading LeShever’s opinions the past couple of times has been, uh… Irritating. This time though, I couldn’t help but say something. I think it’s unfortunate and sad that she is against cleaning up our beach from vagrancy. As someone who had been living on OFW (in an apartment, to be clear) I am very glad that this is happening. I hope that as part of it, some of the truly desperate will slim down the amount of (let’s be frank,) useless junk they collect and carry around. In that, I think it may help them find an easier time of getting the help they desperately need. At the least, it will stop this insane entitlement that some have of “owning” or “right” of living at the beach.

It is interesting how concerned Deborah LaShever is with the boardwalk clean up when she does not even live in Venice. I live on the boardwalk and applaud Mike Bonin’s effort to clean it up. Thanks Mike.

Awakened last night just before 2 am by the booming car audio of a car in the Brig’s parking lot?
We never see The Brig’s bouncers ever ask those doing this in their parking lot to stop — to be considerate of the neighbors around the bar.
Last night, just before 2 am, a guy in The Brig’s parking lot had the windows of his car down and one door open, and was booming his car audio for the whole neighborhood to be awakened to. He and another man were by the car, rocking to the beat.
No bouncer came out and asked them to stop. We never, ever see a bouncer ask for customers booming music out to the neighborhood to stop. A neighbor went out with a flashlight to say, “Hey, this is a neighborhood. People are sleeping!”
To email Dave Reiss, to ask for the bar to be more considerate of our neighborhood and of neighbors’ sleep: dave@thebrig.com

This is a Manta ray. That is a very significant sign of El Nino condition. The Marina is full of them. They get pushed by the warm waters from the south looking for food here in colder waters.
What is unusual is that they came early.

Project Name: Marina del Rey Boat Launch Ramp Entrance-Widening Project
Dates: May 1, 2014 through May 31, 2014
Project Description: The proposed project consists of improvements to the Boat Launch parking lot entrance and exit. These improvements include modifications to allow for easier turning capability into the entrance lane; modifying alignment of the entrance lane; new curbs, pavement and minor landscaping at the entrance and exit; and new signage.
Impact to the Public: The vehicular entrance to the Marina del Rey Public Boat Launch Ramp on Fiji Way will be temporarily closed from May 1 through May 31. During the month-long construction period, the Boat Launch Ramp itself will remain open for launching vessels, 6 am – 8 pm daily, through an alternate entrance at the P-77 lot located at 13560 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292. Cal Trans signs will be posted at the Fiji Way entrance, as well as at the south-west corner of Mindanao Way and Admiralty Way, and along Mindanao Way, directing boaters to use the P-77 lot to gain entrance to the Boat Launch Ramp. Once the project is completed, access to the Boat Launch Ramp will once again be available 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Project Funding: This improvement project is made possible through a grant provided by the California Department of Boating and Waterways.
Contact: For any questions related to this project, please contact the Boating Section at (310) 301-9152.
