OMG!! The homeless encampment on the total west wall of Walgreens. Something to see this morning. Ugh.

Most were gone by the time this photo was taken. But it is getting out of hand.

We’ve been dealing with the campers and vagrants a fair bit. We’ve been calling police regularly and had success displacing the encampment (though it’s mostly just moved to Walgreens).
We think they belonged to the crew that were sleeping but who knows. The police showed up at some point and the whole rodeo relocated somewhere but not sure where.

I live at 3001 Carter Avenue – the house adjacent to the parking lot of the Firestone-Brewery site and across the street from Walgreens.
Tonight about 9:45pm (Sunday May 4th), I was rolling out my garbage cans to the curb, when I discovered a homeless man sleeping amongst all of his gear just north of my front gate on the grass between the sidewalk and the curb on Carter Avenue. This is not that unusual.
However, THREE HORSES tied up to the fence grazing on the grass next to him is something I’ve never seen before!
I called a representative from Firestone-Brewery to let them know. He said that the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the curb is actually city land.
So many questions: Where did he get three horses? Is this the city’s answer to controlling the overgrowth of weeds? Who is going to pick up those horses’ incredibly enormous piles of poop?
I called and reported it to the police. No response as of the time of this writing (11pm).
Update! LAPD came to the scene. Apparently this transient man has walked these donkeys (not horses – this city girl couldn’t tell the difference) from San Diego, and was on his way to Santa Rosa!
Comment: And City people pay attention. They are not horses, they are not donkeys. They are mules. Most mules are from a female horse and a male donkey.

Being in “production” I can assure you that if it is a permitted show/shoot personal vehicles are not suppose to park on the street. And most permitting will not exceed 10p without signatures from the neighbors. I’d suggest if anyone sees cars parking to ask for the location manager or call it in. I just hate for “All PRODUCTION” to get a bad name as we are trying to keep people shooting here.

This email reminded me of a recent experience I had. While at a musical theater performance in Hollywood, it was impossible not to notice that before the performance started (and during intermission) almost everyone around us was busy with their smart phones. The little screens were lit up and folks side by side were tapping away on their keyboards. There was little conversation and it seemed almost eerie…..
And here I sit struggling to answer all the emails in my inbox.
