I was walking to Gaby’s on Washington the other day with my kids to pick up food. While passing 4 homeless almost in front of Gaby’s they broke out into a fight. They were wasted and falling into traffic on Washington Blvd and then the guy started punching the homeless woman with them. It’s dangerous to leave your house and walk to a local restaurant. They could have got run over, My family could have been hit, or cars could have crashed trying to swerve out of way of hitting them falling into the street. The situation is getting ridiculous. They are high on drugs and putting our families in danger. It’s not fair the amount of money we pay to live in our homes to have to deal with this. I’m fed up with these encounters. This is the 2nd incident this month I have had. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Someone broke into my car in my driveway last night. Annoying. (1/15)
My neighbor’s car on Stanford got broken into in his driveway Friday night (1/16).

One morning last week we saw that our neighbor’s garage door was open to the alley and no car in it. Later that afternoon I viewed a young man on the property driveway who rapidly peddled away when I came close to the property. We had already called the neighbor’s phone and left a message. Even more concerned I returned to look inspect and seeing bicycles I presumed that nothing was stolen. Searching around the electronic control was found and with some fumbling the door closed. Later the neighbor called back and was informed that everything seemed to be safe and secure.
This reminds me that ONLY 3 of the two dozen NW flyers I hand delivered were ever returned. So most have my contact numbers and I do not have theirs. I don’t want private info BUT it could be valuable to help protect our homes, property and families.

On Friday, January 9th between 6:30 – 6:45 an African American woman knocked on our door a couple of times. She was singing. I never open the door without checking to see who it was. I said, “Make sure she sees someone is home just in case she is casing the house.” She saw Randy and when he did not answer the door she left. He went out a minute later to see what she was up to and she had disappeared. We had two cars in the driveway and lights on.
We need a neighborhood watch meeting and a method to send alerts instantly to all of our neighbors. Also, a beefed up security patrol!
I saw a sign that said, “NEVERMIND the dog, beware of the owner! He has a gun and a back-hoe.” Of course I am not suggesting this just thought it was funny.

Unreal. No end in site. I saw the story of the man attacked with the rake. Typical police response. Like the time the meth head chased me, the police were way to concerned with anything else BUT going to grab the guy and made ME feel like I had done something wrong! Apathetic, acted like it was no big deal, an every day occurrence….that is the problem, apathy, lack of action, lack of concern for protecting the people who follow the law unless they speed or walk their dog on the beach, then there is a dollar to be made. They don’t do anything to the vagrants, because it isn’t profitable. A ticket wont get paid, an arrest or detainment results in little if anything at all, and costs them time away from ticketing people who can pay a fine… Law abiding citizens at the mercy of the criminals, vagrants, pan handlers claiming to be “mothers” who buy heroine needles at Walgreens, smashing sliding glass windows…now you don’t even need to even leave a window open. Law abiding citizens have no leverage to fight with, we cant “threaten to move” because it is Los Angeles, everyone wants to be here. We can’t threaten not to pay our property taxes cuz we will be the ones behind bars and to lose everything, we can’t use the power of the vote, because once someone is in office they do nothing anyhow. While the police don’t give a crap because the city does not, and LAPD has become apathetic. I called the other day about a guy actively doing drugs on the corner of Carter near the gate, and they said 911 could not respond because it was not an emergency. And was going to give me the number to call the police…. like I am driving and can write it down, and like I wouldn’t be on hold for 30 minutes with that stupid hearing aid fax machine tone screaming at me. No one cares, our tax dollars go to pay for apathy and no standing up to clean things up. They clean up Ocean Front Walk encampments; guess where they will go next? Here, around the corner, anywhere. It has to be a blanket set of laws and actions that do not cover one street or park or beach, but all of 90291-90292. The law abiding citizens are getting screwed over every day and no one cares…red tape, bureaucracy, discussions, red tape, and committees…no results. A tsunami would be the only thing to clean up marina and Venice.

Tricky to take a good picture. Piles of stuff along one side of sidewalk. This is pretty representative.
What puzzles me is why – with all the brouhaha about storage units at the beach for the homeless – they are allowed to leave scads of stuff on the public sidewalk and no one says anything about it.
Go figure.

Thanks to all who took the time to come out to vote for the Democrats from our Assembly District who will represent us at the State Convention this spring. I won, as did many on my slate, with 7 women and 7 men elected in total.
I am honored to have your votes and look forward to working with my fellow Democratic delegates to serve our Assembly District to the best of my ability by continuing to be the progressive Democrat I have always been.
It was a positive, fun experience to campaign. Except for one person who went negative the day before the election, and who lost, the experience was a true exercise in positive grassroots participatory politics.
I appreciate your efforts on my behalf and am very grateful. Onward to the State Dem. convention in the spring!

Commissioner Margulies, who happens to be a resident of Venice, stated, “One person’s tourist attraction is another person’s neighborhood.”
Exactly. And the same goes for what was written below. Also, I’d vote for Ilana Marosi for office in a hot second. She accomplishes more as a neighbor and citizen who cares about Venice than our elected officials.
Citizens throughout LA are experiencing what we experienced at this hearing. The city appears to favor moneyed special interests that flout the laws. The city seems to be greasing the wheels for them.
It appeared obvious that the applicants had been assured their project at 259 Hampton would go through. In my opinion, the city seems to be accepting lies on the CUB application, approving and providing conflicting plans, and playing a game of confusion – not to mention coercing the appellant.
Wouldn’t it be less costly in time, money, and energy if the city advocated for businesses that follow procedures (LUPC and VNC review), obey the laws and are considerate and respectful of their neighbors? We’re all for those businesses!

Thank you very much for this important update. The wanton hubris of Eric Garcetti and Mike Bonin is so sad for Venice. Peace.

I turned on the Venice Beachcam and some guy was focused on this in front of the paddle tennis courts.

There are homeless people hanging out in Thatcher-Yale alley.
Wallk Street Meanderings
Note: Action in one neighborhood usually follows to another.
Someone entered a home on 800 block of Amoroso, probably entered from the walk street and went to the back. Entered from rear by breaking glass panel on rear door. Laptop taken.
From a resident of 900 block of Nowita: Four days ago, while I was traveling, my house was broken into. They threw a rock through the back door window and entered through the door. They stole over $15k in watches and jewelry. They also found my key and stole my new Jaguar. Collectively, this is well over $75k in theft and is one of the more serious incidents I’ve seen.
Magazine salesman is back. They may be ruse for casing area. Call police at nonemergency number.
Two cars lost their catalytic converters.
