Every time I ride my bike through the Oxford Triangle, I notice plenty of street parking, and there are plenty of driveways and garages, but few cars are actually parked in their driveways.
Wouldn’t that help the problem if people used their driveways? What a luxury you have! Very few people in Venice actually have a driveway to park in.
I agree with Amy. We Do not need a culture garden at the library. It could easily be converted to parking, keeping the trees and landscaping the edges better. Who is going to want to spend time on a median strip on Venice. Ridiculous!
Comment: Triangle also has three new houses without garages. After “remodel,” garages were enclosed.

It’s been quite some time since this has happened but this afternoon Aug 13 at 5:15pm a well-dressed African American man was incessantly knocking at my front door and calling out “Hello?” repeatedly. I was in the backyard and hadn’t yet seen him but my guess was that there was a solicitor at my from door, so I was already annoyed. When I walked around and saw him with a clipboard I was so irritated that he had interrupted me and had taken the liberty to let himself into my front gate. I sent him away and he yelled after me “You are a racist! I can tell by your face that you don’t have any black friends!”
If a man I don’t know, of any race, shows up at my house uninvited, unannounced and has let himself into my front yard, he does not get to stay long enough to tell me a spiel. Period. When is it ok for someone to be on your property and demand that you listen to them? Is this happening to anyone else and is there a way to handle it? I hope it isn’t but I doubt I’m the only one.
Comment: Once again, it is my understanding that soliciting in city of Los Angeles without a permit is illegal and it may be just plain illegal.
This may be totally unrelated to the solicitor who was in the neighborhood last week and called us racist when we didn’t want to hear his spiel, but for the first time my property was tagged near my front gate the same week as he was here. Not sure it was the same day and I have no idea if it was him, but would be interested in hearing if anyone else that came into contact with him has found a tag on their property in the same time frame.
Erica, this young man’s rant was not just directed to you. He came to my house also and called me a racist when I wouldn’t open the door to him and simply pointed to the “no soliciting” sign near my front door. I’m sure others received the same treatment from him too. Felt sorry that he has to carry that big chip on his shoulder all the time! Not the first time he has come to my door either. I don’t open my door for anyone I don’t know, but I make sure to let them know someone is home!
