It was the first Flower Fest on Rose and Rose never looked so inviting nor tasted so good.
The event sponsored by the Venice Chamber of Commerce took over Rose from Main to 4th with music, flowers, and tasty cuisine from Venice restaurants. There was even a bike valet and hand washing machines.. The infamous 3rd Ave, which usually seats the homeless, was transformed into booths and tables for eating.
Newly appointed Chief of Police Michael Moore showed up and talked with people and the event turned into a photo shoot with the Chief. Councilman Bike Bonin showed up and was going to say a few words. Taylor Bazley, Venice’s chief deputy, was there. Everyone stopped by at least to see the first Flower Fest and sample the different restaurants’ specialties.
Rick Swinger, Rose-3rd Ave activist, said he talked with Councilman Bonin and gave him both the E.coli report and the County health report regarding the rats at Public Storage. Bonin, Swinger said, was going to give them to County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl.
Go take a Bath Billy LOL
Great photo of the new Chief of Police and Rick Swinger. You can tell from the Chief’s body language that he thinks Rick is a crackpot.
He listens and my first impression was he was intelligent and he seems to understand with his new bully pulpit that he can get the message out. The one thing he said that stuck in my mind is he needs the help of our community if we want positive change. My first impression is he came out to our streets and talk to us. Thats a very good start. As far as what he thinks about me its really none of my business.
